Duncan split his childhood between Nova Scotia, Canada and Ojai, California, in a family of practicing Buddhists.
He eventually found his way to New York City, where he began working in film. Collaborating with his DP brother, Stuart Winecoff, Duncan spent a few years directing music videos and fashion films for such artists and brands as Miguel, Raury, Oh Land, Free People, and Tumi. His work was recognized for having a bold and stylish aesthetic imbued with empathy, a language he then brought to music/documentary projects and now into his commercial and narrative work.
Duncan has garnered recognition, nominations and awards at Cannes' Young Director Award, SHOOT Online Director's Showcase, The One Show, LA Shorts Awards, AdWeek, AdAge, Creativity Online, and a handful of Vimeo Staff Picks.
